SCE has been assisting IKO, a local roofing manufacturer, since 1998 with many of their expansions and modifications to their production facilities. When they began a major expansion to their main production line, they chose SCE to prepare the Structural Designs. In order to increase production, they required numerous modifications to their internal conveyor lines and their bulk granule storage capacity.
Geotechnical conditions required SCE to design a reinforced concrete mat foundation to support the 13 new tanks, each over 60 feet high by 8 feet in diameter. Numerous other structural additions to this industrial facility required careful planning and sequencing of construction improvements to maintain the “active” production of shingles.
